How to improve a box cake mix

While at the visitors booth this morning I met a baker from Chicago. Unbelievable cake decorator! She proceeded to share her boxed cake secrets, little did she know I don't bake. Here it is,
 Never buy a box cake needing butter-
 add one extra egg, add just a bit more oil than it calls for, Always use milk, never water, add 1/2 package of vanilla pudding-no matter what the cake flavor is, if you add the pudding than increase the milk 1/4 cup, bake as directions say.
